SPLITTING THE ROCK, POLYNESIANS IN THE NFL
Directed by Jeremy Spear
This feature length documentary was broadcast nationally on ESPN during February 2005, future screenings this Summer at Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki. 2003, Hawai`i/New York (USA) Directors-Producers: Jeremy Spear & Robert Pennington. Polynesian pride and cultural identity are challenged when young men from Samoa and Hawai`i journey stateside to realize their boyhood dreams of playing professional football in the National Football League (NFL). This short film follows the paths of potential future NFL stars Isaac Sopoaga and Pisa Tinoisamoa, and traces the socioeconomic arc of young Polynesians looking to better themselves and their respective families.

WAIKIKI (Film Works Hawaii) Waikiki - In the Wake of Dreams, this feature length documentary film chronicles the evolution of a small beachside community from ancient spiritual haven, to playground for Hawaii's royalty, to development into a major visitor destination and the world's most famous beach. The film is the first comprehensive chronicle of Waikiki's 500-year history brought alive with archival photographs and moving footage, Hollywood film clips, and oral histories told by the people who made Waikiki, Waikiki. The film previewed in Washington D.C. on Nov 14, 2000 at the National Geographic Society's LIVE! From ...series as part of a tribute to Hawaii. There was a Waikiki premiere in the Spring of 2001 as part of the Honolulu City & County's September 2000 celebration of Kuhio Beach's recent revitalization.

PAPAKOLEA (Film Works Hawaii) Papakolea received the 1995 National Educational Media Network Silver Apple, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Silver Award for Independent Programming, and a CINE Golden Eagle among other national and international awards. It premiered at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and other museums across the U.S.
